Import from your old software

These guides walk through the same flow for each product: export the CSV files your books need, then upload them in xontax. Pick your previous software to see step-by-step export paths and where to upload in the app.

This section is only about the CSV upload path in Settings. Elsewhere on this site we also describe automatic pulls from your old package where we ship that—those are separate from the manual export steps here.

Xero

General ledger export from Xero Accounting (tab-delimited .txt), ready to upload in xontax.

FreeAgent

Trial Balance report as Transactions CSV (or .zip from FreeAgent), then upload in xontax.

QuickBooks

Transaction Detail by Account as Excel, saved as CSV for your general ledger import in xontax.

Sage

Nominal Activity CSV from Sage 50 (UK), plus a pointer for Sage Accounting cloud, then upload in xontax.

Ready in the app

When your CSV files are saved, open xontax and go to Settings to upload them in the legacy import area.
